Coloured pencils & gamsol

Today I want to show you 3 cards I made recently using the lovely Gorjuss-stamps, coloured pencils and gamsol. I have to admit that I am a big fan of copics but once in a while I like to try something new.

I heard about gamsol some time ago, I watched several YouTube videos and found the results most stunning. And of course I have very fond childhood memories of coloured pencils. So I decided to get myself a set of gamsol and paper stomps and start the experiment.

Gamsol is a brand name for a blending medium for coloured pencils, an odourless mineral spirit. Basically it is a paint thinner which breaks down the wax in the coloured pencil allowing for beautiful blending.

For my first card I used a very pretty Gorjuss-stamp on white cardstock.

I love autumn

After spring autumn is my second favourite season!

And it was my favourite one when I was a child. I remember taking long walks through the forest collecting chestnuts and beautifully coloured leaves. I remember the fresh and clear air and jumping into huge piles of leaves. And at home we would drink hot tea and create little stick-figures with chestnuts and toothpicks. The air outside wasn’t too hot anymore but not cold either. It was perfect for taking walks and collecting mushrooms. Weiterlesen →

How doesn’t love dinosaurs? Come on, everybody loves them! Girls have a princess phase when they are young. Boys want to become astronauts. But everybody loves dinosaurs!

Finally Spring!

I am so happy it’s finally spring. The temperatures are bearable and the sunlight just makes me happy! What about you? Don’t you just love when everything starts to bloom and grow? I know I love it. So I made a set of cards with flowers to celebrate my favorite season of the year!

I stamped a flower on vellum with versamark, embossed it in white and colored the flowers with my copics from behind. The results were so cute, that I decided to make a whole bunch of cards with this technique.  Also, you can never have too many “thanks” and birthday cards!

Winterliches und Weihnachtliches

Weihnachten ist zwar schon vorbei und wir haben sogar schon 2014, aber der Winter hat dieses Mal sehr spät Einzug gehalten. Persönlich bin ich ja kein Fan von Eiseskälte und Schneematch auf den Straßen, aber da müssen wir wohl durch. Auch die Zeit wo wir nicht bei absoluter Dunkelheit aus dem Bett müssen, wird wohl noch auf sich warten lassen.

Jedenfalls möchte ich hier ein paar winterliche und weihnachtliche Karten dieser Saison mit euch teilen. Für all diejenigen, die Winter und Schnee gern haben – viel Spaß. Und an alle anderen: Es kann sich nur noch um Monate handeln…….

Ordnung ist das halbe Leben

Oder, wie ich immer zu sagen pflege: „Ordnung ist, wenn man weiß, wo man gar nicht erst zu suchen braucht!“

Es ist wohl an beiden Aussagen etwas dran und ich persönlich tendiere eher zur Letzteren. Allerdings kommt im Leben einer Bastlerin der Punkt, wenn man vor unzähligen Produkten einfach die Übersicht verliert. Also habe ich mich dran gemacht, ein bisschen Ordnung an meinen Arbeitsplatz zu bringen… der Übersicht halber. Aber es macht ja auch wirklich Sinn. Ich habe nämlich bereits über 45 verschiedene ink pads (Stempelkissen) und weiß auswendig gar nicht mehr, welche Farben ich habe.

It was some time ago that I bought a special stamp for the birthday party of two of my friends. Both friends where colleagues of mine at university where we studied Japanese studies. So I thought that the adorable stamp “Anya Geisha” from The Greeting Farm was absolutely perfect for this occasion!
